Artificial Selection - Science

Artificial selection is a process in which humans force to animals to mate to achieve the 'perfect' species for a certain job (hunting, gaurding, etc). The first step in this process is that people look at traits in species that already exist and choose two of these that together contain all the desired traits they want in their new species. Next, they get the animals to mate. However, this process, much like natural selection, is not perfect. There are many variations of traits in offspring and you may need to wait quite some time before your two species' offpsring inherit the exact traits you want.
