Qatar: Then vs Now Presentation

Reflections:What’s the relevance of studying demographics?  In other words, why is this important to me?  How will this impact my life?  Today? In 5 years?  When I’m an adult?

Right now, this isn't affecting me. However, this is important to me.

In 2002, the world population was only 5.5 billion. Today, the worlds population is 7.2 billion. The worlds population has increased by about 2 billion in 13 years. If this rate of growth keeps up, then by 2028  (By then I'll be full fledged adult at the age of 26), we'll have around 9 billion people living on planet Earth. The resources we (kinda sorta) share in today's world will have to be divided up for even more people, meaning less food and water for our generation than the generation before us would have had.

Also, housing would become a problem. With all these people, single - family homes would probably become more scarce and lots of land would probably be used to build apartment complexes for people to live. This land will, however, probably not be bare and we would have to cut down rainforests and such to accomadate the number of apartments jumping up everywhere.

Studying demographics and population trends is important because that way we can reflect upon how events affected people in the past and can predict if we will have a population crisis in the future.
