Africa's Stats (Math)
In math, we are learning about integers. As homework, our job was to find the highest point elevation, lowest point of elevation, the highest recorded temperature and the lowest recorded temperature of one of the continents. I chose Africa, because... well, I just find Africa interesting. Maybe the water project (tab is ^up there^) has influenced me. Anyway, here are the stats:
- The highest point of elevation: Mount Kilimanjaro, at 5,895 m is made up of three volcanos (Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira)that are kind of smashed together to form one very famous mountain.Anyway, moving on
- The lowest point of elevation: Lake Assal, which is 153 meters below sea level (at an elevation of -153 meters)! It was actually a huge crater, (which an area of 54 km^2) which got filled up with water somehow.
- The difference (when measured from the bottom of the crater to the top of the mountain) is 5,742 meters.
Next, here come the temperatures.
- Highest temperature: In Tunisia, Africa, the highest temperature ever recorded was 55.0 °C (131 °F) on 1931-07-07. This holds the second highest world temperature ever recorded till date (highest being in the Death Valley, California, at 56.7 °C (134 °F).
- In Morocco, Africa, the lowest temperature ever recorded was −24 °C (−11 °F), which was rather warm compared the coldest temperature in (no surprise) Antarctica, at −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F).
- The difference? 31°C (87.8 °F).
That's all for now. Bye!
